| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We currently build the USB loader tools only for the host (build) system, but it can be useful to cross compile them as well for the target. We already have some target tools, but support for those is easier, because they don't link against libraries. We use pkg-config to get cc and ld flags, but we always assume that pkg-config is for the host system and there is no well-defined way to request pkg-config for the target system. Support this by introducing a new CROSS_PKG_CONFIG. This will be consulted only for target tools and default to $(CROSS_COMPILE)pkgconfig. Fixing the linker error is insufficient to restore a barebox that can boot to shell. This continued breakage likely means that there are no users interested in updating. As new x86 projects should be using MACH_EFI_GENERIC anyway, retire support for 16-bit legacy boot (MACH_X86_GENERIC). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Given that we only support a single RISC-V board, this puts us in a good position to make this a multi-image-only architecture. This commit adds the necessary bits. It's highly inspired by the ARM PBL support. Notable difference is that for relocations to be generated, it was necessary to compile with -fpic. The relocation code assumes the relocation entries to preprocessed. This is done at build-time by means of the prelink-riscv script imported from U-Boot. Actual migration to -fpic and prelinking is done along with porting erizo in a follow-up commit. Currently it only supports creating v1 images, but can be easily expanded to support v0 and extraction, too. Additionally it supports more than one binary header and doesn't create broken images when running on a big endian platform. PBL in the name is for "Pre-Boot Loader", just like the barebox PBL support, but here the name is for the Layerscape image format which has the same name. Layerscape SoCs load the initial image portion into SRAM, so only a fraction of the barebox image can initially be loaded. This tool expects the full barebox image and the size of the PBL part of this image specified to the -m option. The full barebox image is then placed in the output image at offset 128KiB. The AM33xx can boot either images generated with omap_signGP or raw images which only have the image size and load address in front of the image. Whether these images are booted from SPI or another boot medium doesn't matter. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It's often useful to get some information about a barebox image before starting or flashing it. This patch introduces barebox Image MetaData (IMD). When enabled a barebox image will contain a list of tags containing the desired information. We have tags for: - the barebox release (2014.07.0-00160-g035de50-dirty) - the build timestamp (#741 Mon Jul 28 15:08:54 CEST 2014) - the board model the image is intended for - the device tree toplevel compatible property Also there is an additional generic key-value store which stores parameters for which no dedicated tag exists. In this patch it is used for the memory size an image supports. Since there is no fixed offset in a barebox image which can be used for storing the information, the metadata is stored somewhere in the image and found by iterating over the image. This works for most image types, but obviously not for SoC images which are encoded or encrypted in some way. There is a 'imd' tool compiled from the same sources for barebox, for the compile host and for the target, so the metadata information is available whereever needed. For device tree boards the model and of_compatible tags are automatically generated.
