* Convert schema_translate to a post compileMike Bayer2020-03-241-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Revised the :paramref:`.Connection.execution_options.schema_translate_map` feature such that the processing of the SQL statement to receive a specific schema name occurs within the execution phase of the statement, rather than at the compile phase. This is to support the statement being efficiently cached. Previously, the current schema being rendered into the statement for a particular run would be considered as part of the cache key itself, meaning that for a run against hundreds of schemas, there would be hundreds of cache keys, rendering the cache much less performant. The new behavior is that the rendering is done in a similar manner as the "post compile" rendering added in 1.4 as part of :ticket:`4645`, :ticket:`4808`. Fixes: #5004 Change-Id: Ia5c89eb27cc8dc2c5b8e76d6c07c46290a7901b6
* Deprecate plain string in execute and introduce `exec_driver_sql`Federico Caselli2020-03-211-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Execution of literal sql string is deprecated in the :meth:`.Connection.execute` and a warning is raised when used stating that it will be coerced to :func:`.text` in a future release. To execute a raw sql string the new connection method :meth:`.Connection.exec_driver_sql` was added, that will retain the previous behavior, passing the string to the DBAPI driver unchanged. Usage of scalar or tuple positional parameters in :meth:`.Connection.execute` is also deprecated. Fixes: #4848 Fixes: #5178 Change-Id: I2830181054327996d594f7f0d59c157d477c3aa9
* Support inspection of computed columnFederico Caselli2020-03-151-1/+24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Added support for reflection of "computed" columns, which are now returned as part of the structure returned by :meth:`.Inspector.get_columns`. When reflecting full :class:`.Table` objects, computed columns will be represented using the :class:`.Computed` construct. Also improve the documentation in :meth:`Inspector.get_columns`, correctly listing all the returned keys. Fixes: #5063 Fixes: #4051 Closes: #5064 Pull-request: https://github.com/sqlalchemy/sqlalchemy/pull/5064 Pull-request-sha: ba00fc321ce468f8885aad23b3dd33c789e50fbe Change-Id: I789986554fc8ac7f084270474d0b2c12046b1cc2
* Deprecate connection branchingMike Bayer2020-02-211-73/+160
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The :meth:`.Connection.connect` method is deprecated as is the concept of "connection branching", which copies a :class:`.Connection` into a new one that has a no-op ".close()" method. This pattern is oriented around the "connectionless execution" concept which is also being removed in 2.0. As part of this change we begin to move the internals away from "connectionless execution" overall. Remove the "connectionless execution" concept from the reflection internals and replace with explicit patterns at the Inspector level. * Cache every key in reflection_cacheMike Bayer2019-10-311-5/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Fixed bug in :class:`.Inspector` where the cache key generation did not take into account arguments passed in the form of tuples, such as the tuple of view name styles to return for the PostgreSQL dialect. This would lead the inspector to cache too generally for a more specific set of criteria. The logic has been adjusted to include every keyword element in the cache, as every argument is expected to be appropriate for a cache else the caching decorator should be bypassed by the dialect. * PGDialect.get_check_constraints: Handle "NOT VALID"Bill Finn2019-08-271-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Added support for reflection of CHECK constraints that include the special PostgreSQL qualifier "NOT VALID", which can be present for CHECK constraints that were added to an exsiting table with the directive that they not be applied to existing data in the table. The PostgreSQL dictionary for CHECK constraints as returned by :meth:`.Inspector.get_check_constraints` may include an additional entry ``dialect_options`` which within will contain an entry ``"not_valid": True`` if this symbol is detected. * Modernize internal reflectionMike Bayer2019-08-061-25/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | - Deprecated remaining engine-level introspection and utility methods including :meth:`.Engine.run_callable`, :meth:`.Engine.transaction`, :meth:`.Engine.table_names`, :meth:`.Engine.has_table`. The utility methods are superseded by modern context-manager patterns, and the table introspection tasks are suited by the :class:`.Inspector` object. - The internal dialect method ``Dialect.reflecttable`` has been removed. A review of third party dialects has not found any making use of this method, as it was already documented as one that should not be used by external dialects. Additionally, the private ``Engine._run_visitor`` method is also removed. - The long-deprecated ``Inspector.get_table_names.order_by`` parameter has been removed. - The :paramref:`.Table.autoload_with` parameter now accepts an :class:`.Inspector` object directly, as well as any :class:`.Engine` or :class:`.Connection` as was the case before. * PostgreSQL now reflects per-column sort order on indexes.Eli Collins2019-06-171-2/+21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Added support for column sorting flags when reflecting indexes for PostgreSQL, including ASC, DESC, NULLSFIRST, NULLSLAST. Also adds this facility to the reflection system in general which can be applied to other dialects in future releases. Pull request courtesy Eli Collins. * Add resolve_fks=False option for reflectionMike Bayer2019-02-281-19/+28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Added new parameters :paramref:`.Table.resolve_fks` and :paramref:`.MetaData.reflect.resolve_fks` which when set to False will disable the automatic reflection of related tables encountered in :class:`.ForeignKey` objects, which can both reduce SQL overhead for omitted tables as well as avoid tables that can't be reflected for database-specific reasons. Two :class:`.Table` objects present in the same :class:`.MetaData` collection can still refer to each other even if the reflection of the two tables occurred separately. * Add deprecation warnings to all deprecated APIsMike Bayer2019-01-231-9/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A large change throughout the library has ensured that all objects, parameters, and behaviors which have been noted as deprecated or legacy now emit ``DeprecationWarning`` warnings when invoked. As the Python 3 interpreter now defaults to displaying deprecation warnings, as well as that modern test suites based on tools like tox and pytest tend to display deprecation warnings, this change should make it easier to note what API features are obsolete. See the notes added to the changelog and migration notes for further details. Fixes: #4393 Change-Id: If0ea11a1fc24f9a8029352eeadfc49a7a54c0a1b

| | | | | | | | | | | | | Applied on top of a pure run of black -l 79 in I7eda77fed3d8e73df84b3651fd6cfcfe858d4dc9, this set of changes resolves all remaining flake8 conditions for those codes we have enabled in setup.cfg. Included are resolutions for all remaining flake8 issues including shadowed builtins, long lines, import order, unused imports, duplicate imports, and docstring issues. * Run black -l 79 against all source filesMike Bayer2019-01-061-169/+267
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is a straight reformat run using black as is, with no edits applied at all. The black run will format code consistently, however in some cases that are prevalent in SQLAlchemy code it produces too-long lines. The too-long lines will be resolved in the following commit that will resolve all remaining flake8 issues including shadowed builtins, long lines, import order, unused imports, duplicate imports, and docstring issues. * Add new parameters for IDENTITY start/increment in mssqlMike Bayer2018-11-141-1/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | Deprecated the use of :class:`.Sequence` with SQL Server in order to affect the "start" and "increment" of the IDENTITY value, in favor of new parameters ``mssql_identity_start`` and ``mssql_identity_increment`` which set these parameters directly. :class:`.Sequence` will be used to generate real ``CREATE SEQUENCE`` DDL with SQL Server in a future release. * Ensure Oracle index w/ col DESC etc. is reflectedMike Bayer2017-08-141-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Fixed bug where an index reflected under Oracle with an expression like "column DESC" would not be returned, if the table also had no primary key, as a result of logic that attempts to filter out the index implicitly added by Oracle onto the primary key columns. Reworked the "filter out the primary key index" logic in oracle get_indexes() to be clearer. This changeset also adds an internal check to ColumnCollection to accomodate for the case of a column being added twice, as well as adding a private _table argument to Index such that reflection can specify the Table explicitly. The _table argument can become part of public API in a later revision or release if needed. Change-Id: I745711e03b3e450b7f31185fc70e10d3823063fa Fixes: #4042
* Implement comments for tables, columnsFrazer McLean2017-03-171-1/+34
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Added support for SQL comments on :class:`.Table` and :class:`.Column` objects, via the new :paramref:`.Table.comment` and :paramref:`.Column.comment` arguments. The comments are included as part of DDL on table creation, either inline or via an appropriate ALTER statement, and are also reflected back within table reflection, as well as via the :class:`.Inspector`. Supported backends currently include MySQL, Postgresql, and Oracle. Co-authored-by: Mike Bayer <mike_mp@zzzcomputing.com> Fixes: #1546 Change-Id: Ib90683850805a2b4ee198e420dc294f32f15d35d
* Accept FetchedValue, text() for column "default" valueMike Bayer2017-02-011-17/+17
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Fixed bug whereby the :meth:`.DDLEvents.column_reflect` event would not allow a non-textual expression to be passed as the value of the "default" for the new column, such as a :class:`.FetchedValue` object to indicate a generic triggered default or a :func:`.sql.expression.text` construct. Clarified the documentation in this regard as well. Fixes: #3905 Change-Id: I829796c3e9f87f375149bebee7eef133a6876d4d

* Add _extend_on deduplicating set for metadata.reflect()Mike Bayer2016-11-231-3/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The "extend_existing" option of :class:`.Table` reflection would cause indexes and constraints to be doubled up in the case that the parameter were used with :meth:`.MetaData.reflect` (as the automap extension does) due to tables being reflected both within the foreign key path as well as directly. A new de-duplicating set is passed through within the :meth:`.MetaData.reflect` sequence to prevent double reflection in this way. Change-Id: Ibf6650c1e76a44ccbe15765fd79df2fa53d6bac7 Fixes: #3861

* Support "blank" schema when MetaData.schema is setMike Bayer2016-05-181-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Previously, it was impossible to have a Table that has None for a schema name when the "schema" parameter on MetaData was set. A new symbol sqlalchemy.schema.BLANK_SCHEMA is added which indicates that the schema name should unconditionally be set to None. In particular, this value must be passed within cross-schema foreign key reflection, so that a Table which is in the "default" schema can be represented properly. The system also works for constraints which aren't given a name up front; only in the case of DROP is a name required for at least one of the constraints involved in the cycle. fixes #3282

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Calls to reflect a table did not create any UniqueConstraint objects. The reflection core made no calls to get_unique_constraints and as a result, the sqlite dialect would never reflect any unique constraints. MySQL transparently converts unique constraints into unique indexes, but SQLAlchemy would reflect those as an Index object and as a UniqueConstraint. The reflection core will now deduplicate the unique constraints. PostgreSQL would reflect unique constraints as an Index object and as a UniqueConstraint object. The reflection core will now deduplicate the unique indexes.

The return of temporary table and view names has been **removed** from SQLite's version of :meth:`.Inspector.get_table_names` and :meth:`.Inspector.get_view_names`; other database backends cannot support this information (such as MySQL), and the scope of operation is different in that the tables can be local to a session and typically aren't supported in remote schemas. fixes #3204

| | | | | | | | | | | | reflection now updates the PKC in place. - support the use case of the empty PrimaryKeyConstraint in order to specify constraint options; the columns marked as primary_key=True will now be gathered into the columns collection, rather than being ignored. [ticket:2910] - add validation such that column specification should only take place in the PrimaryKeyConstraint directly, or by using primary_key=True flags; if both are present, they have to match exactly, otherwise the condition is assumed to be ambiguous, and a warning is emitted; the old behavior of using the PKC columns only is maintained.
