In the old days the old HPT was used as an interface file cache when
using ghci. The HPT is a `ModuleEnv HomeModInfo` and so if you were
using hs-boot files then the interface file from compiling the .hs file
would be present in the cache but not the hi-boot file. This used to be
ok, because the .hi file used to just be a better version of the
.hi-boot file, with more information so it was fine to reuse it. Now the
source hash of a module is kept track of in the interface file and the
source hash for the .hs and .hs-boot file are correspondingly different
so it's no longer safe to reuse an interface file.
I took the decision to move the cache management of interface files to
GHCi itself, and provide an API where `load` can be provided with a list
of interface files which can be used as a cache. An alternative would be
to manage this cache somewhere in the HscEnv but it seemed that an API
user should be responsible for populating and suppling the cache rather
than having it managed implicitly.

Introduce LogFlags as a independent subset of DynFlags used for logging.
As a consequence in many places we don't have to pass both Logger and
DynFlags anymore.
The main reason for this refactoring is that I want to refactor the
systools interfaces: for now many systools functions use DynFlags both
to use the Logger and to fetch their parameters (e.g. ldInputs for the
linker). I'm interested in refactoring the way they fetch their
parameters (i.e. use dedicated XxxOpts data types instead of DynFlags)
for #19877. But if I did this refactoring before refactoring the Logger,
we would have duplicate parameters (e.g. ldInputs from DynFlags and
linkerInputs from LinkerOpts). Hence this patch first.
Some flags don't really belong to LogFlags because they are subsystem
specific (e.g. most DumpFlags). For example -ddump-asm should better be
passed in NCGConfig somehow. This patch doesn't fix this tight coupling:
the dump flags are part of the UI but they are passed all the way down
for example to infer the file name for the dumps.
Because LogFlags are a subset of the DynFlags, we must update the former
when the latter changes (not so often). As a consequence we now use
accessors to read/write DynFlags in HscEnv instead of using `hsc_dflags`
directly.
In the process I've also made some subsystems less dependent on DynFlags:
- CmmToAsm: by passing some missing flags via NCGConfig (see new fields
in GHC.CmmToAsm.Config)
- Core.Opt.*:
- by passing -dinline-check value into UnfoldingOpts
- by fixing some Core passes interfaces (e.g. CallArity, FloatIn)
that took DynFlags argument for no good reason.
- as a side-effect GHC.Core.Opt.Pipeline.doCorePass is much less
convoluted.

The loader state was stored into HscEnv. As we need to have two
interpreters and one loader state per interpreter in #14335, it's
natural to make the loader state a field of the Interp type.
As a side effect, many functions now only require a Interp parameter
instead of HscEnv. Sadly we can't fully free GHC.Linker.Loader of HscEnv
yet because the loader is initialised lazily from the HscEnv the first
time it is used. This is left as future work.
HscEnv may not contain an Interp value (i.e. hsc_interp :: Maybe Interp).
So a side effect of the previous side effect is that callers of the
modified functions now have to provide an Interp. It is satisfying as it
pushes upstream the handling of the case where HscEnv doesn't contain an
Interpreter. It is better than raising a panic (less partial functions,
"parse, don't validate", etc.).

* Implement new debugger command `:ignore` to set an `ignore count`
for a specified breakpoint.
* Allow new optional parameter on `:continue` command to set an
`ignore count` for the current breakpoint.
* In the Interpreter replace the current `Word8` BreakArray with
an `Int` array.
* Change semantics of values in `BreakArray` to:
n < 0 : Breakpoint is disabled.
n == 0 : Breakpoint is enabled.
n > 0 : Breakpoint is enabled, but ignore next `n` iterations.
* Rewrite `:enable`/`:disable` processing as a special case of `:ignore`.

Before this patch, the only way to override GHC's default logging
behavior was to set `log_action`, `dump_action` and `trace_action`
fields in DynFlags. This patch introduces a new Logger abstraction and
stores it in HscEnv instead.
This is part of #17957 (avoid storing state in DynFlags). DynFlags are
duplicated and updated per-module (because of OPTIONS_GHC pragma), so
we shouldn't store global state in them.
This patch also fixes a race in parallel "--make" mode which updated
the `generatedDumps` IORef concurrently.

For interactive evaluations set the field `DynFlags.dumpPrefix` to the
GHCi internal module name. The GHCi module name for an interactive
evaluation is something like `Ghci9`.
To avoid user confusion, don't dump any data for GHCi internal evaluations.
Extend the comment for `DynFlags.dumpPrefix` and fix a little typo in a
comment about the GHCi internal module names.

I was working on making DynFlags stateless (#17957), especially by
storing loaded plugins into HscEnv instead of DynFlags. It turned out to
be complicated because HscEnv is in GHC.Driver.Types but LoadedPlugin
isn't: it is in GHC.Driver.Plugins which depends on GHC.Driver.Types. I
didn't feel like introducing yet another hs-boot file to break the loop.
Additionally I remember that while we introduced the module hierarchy
(#13009) we talked about splitting GHC.Driver.Types because it contained
various unrelated types and functions, but we never executed. I didn't
feel like making GHC.Driver.Types bigger with more unrelated Plugins
related types, so finally I bit the bullet and split GHC.Driver.Types.
As a consequence this patch moves a lot of things. I've tried to put
them into appropriate modules but nothing is set in stone.
Several other things moved to avoid loops.
* Removed Binary instances from GHC.Utils.Binary for random compiler
things
* Moved Typeable Binary instances into GHC.Utils.Binary.Typeable: they
import a lot of things that users of GHC.Utils.Binary don't want to
depend on.
* put everything related to Units/Modules under GHC.Unit:
GHC.Unit.Finder, GHC.Unit.Module.{ModGuts,ModIface,Deps,etc.}
* Created several modules under GHC.Types: GHC.Types.Fixity, SourceText,
etc.
* Split GHC.Utils.Error (into GHC.Types.Error)
* Finally removed GHC.Driver.Types
Note that this patch doesn't put loaded plugins into HscEnv. It's left
for another patch.

Previously we would hackily evaluate a textual code snippet to compute
actions to disable I/O buffering and flush the stdout/stderr handles.
This broke in a number of ways (#15336, #16563).
Instead we now ship a module (`GHC.GHCi.Helpers`) with `base` containing
the needed actions. We can then easily refer to these via `Orig` names.

This patch adds two new commands `:enable` and `:disable` to the GHCi debugger.
Opposite to `:set stop <n> :continue` a breakpoint disabled with `:disable` will
not loose its previously set stop command.
A new field breakEnabled is added to the BreakLocation data structure to
track the enable/disable state. When a breakpoint is disabled with a `:disable`
command, the following happens:
The corresponding BreakLocation data element is searched dictionary of the
`breaks` field of the GHCiStateMonad. If the break point is found and not
already in the disabled state, the breakpoint is removed from bytecode.
The BreakLocation data structure is kept in the breaks list and the new
breakEnabled field is set to false.
The `:enable` command works similar.
The breaks field in the GHCiStateMonad was changed from an association list
to int `IntMap`.

Directives in .ghci files in the current directory ("local .ghci")
can be overridden by global files. Change the order in which the
configs are loaded: global and $HOME/.ghci first, then local.
Also introduce a new field to GHCiState to control whether local
.ghci gets sourced or ignored. This commit does not add a way to
set this value (a subsequent commit will add this), but the .ghci
sourcing routine respects its value.

We revert CAFs when loading/adding modules in ghci (presumably to refresh
execution states and to allow for object code to be unloaded from the runtime).
However, with `-fexternal-interpreter` enabled, we are only doing it in the
ghci process instead of the external interpreter process where the cafs are
allocated and computed. This makes sure that revertCAFs is done in the
appropriate process no matter if that flag is present or not.

Summary:
Introduce `GhciMonad`, which is bascially `GhcMonad` + `HasGhciState`.
Generalize the commands and help functions defined in `GHCi.UI` so they
can be used as both `GHCi a` and `InputT GHCi a`.
The long term plan is to move reusable bits to ghci library and make it
easier to build a customized interactive ui which carries customized state
and provides customized commands.
Most changes are trivial in this diff by relaxing the type constraint or
add/remove lift as necessary. The non-trivial changes are:
* Change `HasGhciState` to `GhciMonad` and expose it.
* Implementation of `reifyGHCi`.

Instead of parsing and executing a statement or declaration directly we
now parse them first and then execute in a separate step. This gives us
the flexibility to inspect the parsed declaration before execution.
Using this we now inspect parsed declarations, and if it's a single
declaration of form `x = y` we execute it as `let x = y` instead, fixing
a ton of problems caused by poor declaration support in GHCi.
To avoid any users of the modules I left `execStmt` and `runDecls`
unchanged and added `execStmt'` and `runDecls'` which work on parsed
statements/declarations.

Summary:
It's well known that `-XRebindableSyntax` doesn't play
nicely with some of the internal expressions that GHCi runs. #13385
was one example where this problem arose, which was fixed at the time
by simply avoiding the use of `do`-notation in these internal GHCi
expressions. That seemed to work, but it was a technique that proved
not to scale, as #14342 demonstrated //another// example where
`-XRebindableSyntax` can bite.
Instead of delicately arranging the internal GHCi expressions to
avoid anything that might be covered under `-XRebindableSyntax`,
this patch takes the much more direct approach of disabling
`-XRebindableSyntax` entirely when running any internal GHCi
expression. This shouldn't hurt, since nothing internal to GHCi was
taking advantage of the extension in the first place, and moreover,
we can have greater confidence that some other obscure
`-XRebindableSyntax` corner case won't pop up in the future. As an
added bonus, this lets us once again use `do`-notation in the code
that had to be changed when #13385 was (hackily) fixed before.

Summary:
See https://ghc.haskell.org/trac/ghc/wiki/ImplementingTreesThatGrow
This commit prepares the ground for a full extensible AST, by replacing the type
parameter for the hsSyn data types with a set of indices into type families,
data GhcPs -- ^ Index for GHC parser output
data GhcRn -- ^ Index for GHC renamer output
data GhcTc -- ^ Index for GHC typechecker output
These are now used instead of `RdrName`, `Name` and `Id`/`TcId`/`Var`
Where the original name type is required in a polymorphic context, this is
accessible via the IdP type family, defined as
type family IdP p
type instance IdP GhcPs = RdrName
type instance IdP GhcRn = Name
type instance IdP GhcTc = Id
These types are declared in the new 'hsSyn/HsExtension.hs' module.
To gain a better understanding of the extension mechanism, it has been applied
to `HsLit` only, also replacing the `SourceText` fields in them with extension
types.
To preserve extension generality, a type class is introduced to capture the
`SourceText` interface, which must be honoured by all of the extension points
which originally had a `SourceText`. The class is defined as
class HasSourceText a where
-- Provide setters to mimic existing constructors
noSourceText :: a
sourceText :: String -> a
setSourceText :: SourceText -> a
getSourceText :: a -> SourceText
And the constraint is captured in `SourceTextX`, which is a constraint type
listing all the extension points that make use of the class.
Updating Haddock submodule to match.

While investigating #12545, I discovered several places in the code
that performed length-checks like so:
```
length ts == 4
```
This is not ideal, since the length of `ts` could be much longer than 4,
and we'd be doing way more work than necessary! There are already a slew
of helper functions in `Util` such as `lengthIs` that are designed to do
this efficiently, so I found every place where they ought to be used and
did just that. I also defined a couple more utility functions for list
length that were common patterns (e.g., `ltLength`).

This patch is trying to redesign the :set prompt option to take not a
String but a Haskell function, like [String] -> Int -> IO String, where
[String] is the list of the names of the currently loaded modules and
Int is the line number. Currently you may set prompt function with
**:set promt-function [String] -> Int -> IO String** option and old
version is also available - :set prompt String.
So, it looks like I've almost completed this patch:
1) Now we have a lot of escape sequences - 13 to be exact. Most of them
are similar to bash prompt escape sequences. Thus they are quite handy.
2) We may use the special escape sequence to call shell functions, for
example "%call(ls -l -a)".
3) We may use :set prompt-function to set PFunction to handle prompt.
It is just [String] -> Int -> IO String.

Summary:
The main goal here is enable stack traces in GHCi. After this change,
if you start GHCi like this:
ghci -fexternal-interpreter -prof
(which requires packages to be built for profiling, but not GHC
itself) then the interpreter manages cost-centre stacks during
execution and can produce a stack trace on request. Call locations
are available for all interpreted code, and any compiled code that was
built with the `-fprof-auto` familiy of flags.
There are a couple of ways to get a stack trace:
* `error`/`undefined` automatically get one attached
* `Debug.Trace.traceStack` can be used anywhere, and prints the current
stack
Because the interpreter is running in a separate process, only the
interpreted code is running in profiled mode and the compiler itself
isn't slowed down by profiling.
The GHCi debugger still doesn't work with -fexternal-interpreter,
although this patch gets it a step closer. Most of the functionality
of breakpoints is implemented, but the runtime value introspection is
still not supported.
Along the way I also did some refactoring and added type arguments to
the various remote pointer types in `GHCi.RemotePtr`, so there's
better type safety and documentation in the bridge code between GHC
and ghc-iserv.

Further work refactoring and enhancing GHCi will make it desirable to
split up GHCi's code-base into multiple modules with specific functions,
and rather than have several top-level 'Ghci*' modules, it's nicer to
have a common namespace. This commit is provides the basis for that.
Note that the remaining GHCi.* namespace belongs to the new `ghci`
package.
