* object.h: centralize object flag allocationNguyễn Thái Ngọc Duy2014-03-251-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | While the field "flags" is mainly used by the revision walker, it is also used in many other places. Centralize the whole flag allocation to one place for a better overview (and easier to move flags if we have too). * clear parsed flag when we free tree buffersjk/free-tree-bufferJeff King2013-06-061-4/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Many code paths will free a tree object's buffer and set it to NULL after finishing with it in order to keep memory usage down during a traversal. However, out of 8 sites that do this, only one actually unsets the "parsed" flag back. Those sites that don't are setting a trap for later users of the tree object; even after calling parse_tree, the buffer will remain NULL, causing potential segfaults. It is not known whether this is triggerable in the current code. Most commands do not do an in-memory traversal followed by actually using the objects again. However, it does not hurt to be safe for future callers. In most cases, we can abstract this out to a "free_tree_buffer" helper. However, there are two exceptions: 1. The fsck code relies on the parsed flag to know that we were able to parse the object at one point. We can switch this to using a flag in the "flags" field. 2. The index-pack code sets the buffer to NULL but does not free it (it is freed by a caller). We should still unset the parsed flag here, but we cannot use our helper, as we do not want to free the buffer. * Change check_ref_format() to take a flags argumentMichael Haggerty2011-10-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change check_ref_format() to take a flags argument that indicates what is acceptable in the reference name (analogous to "git check-ref-format"'s "--allow-onelevel" and "--refspec-pattern"). This is more convenient for callers and also fixes a failure in the test suite (and likely elsewhere in the code) by enabling "onelevel" and "refspec-pattern" to be allowed independently of each other. Also rename check_ref_format() to check_refname_format() to make it obvious that it deals with refnames rather than references themselves. * commit: Add commit_list prefix in two function names.Thiago Farina2010-11-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Add commit_list prefix to insert_by_date function and to sort_by_date, so it's clear that these functions refer to commit_list structure. Signed-off-by: Thiago Farina <tfransosi@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>

* make alloc_ref_from_str() the new alloc_ref()René Scharfe2008-10-181-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | With all calls to alloc_ref() gone, we can remove it and then we're free to give alloc_ref_from_str() the shorter name. It's a much nicer interface, as the callers always need to have a name string when they allocate a ref anyway and don't need to calculate and pass its length+1 any more. * Replace calls to strbuf_init(&foo, 0) with STRBUF_INIT initializerBrandon Casey2008-10-121-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Many call sites use strbuf_init(&foo, 0) to initialize local strbuf variable "foo" which has not been accessed since its declaration. These can be replaced with a static initialization using the STRBUF_INIT macro which is just as readable, saves a function call, and takes up fewer lines. * Fix "git clone http://$URL" to check out the worktree when askedJeff King2008-06-041-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | The builtin-clone now does the http commit walking and the tree unpacking in the same process, and the commit walker leaves the in-core objects in a funny state. When forgetting the data read from the tree object, the object should be marked "not parsed yet" for later users. * Make walker.fetch_ref() take a struct ref.Daniel Barkalow2008-04-261-1/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This simplifies a few things, makes a few things slightly more complicated, but, more importantly, allows that, when struct ref can represent a symref, http_fetch_ref() can return one. Incidentally makes the string that http_fetch_ref() gets include "refs/" (if appropriate), because that's how the name field of struct ref works. As far as I can tell, the usage in walker:interpret_target() wouldn't have worked previously, if it ever would have been used, which it wouldn't (since the fetch process uses the hash instead of the name of the ref there). * Merge branch 'master' into db/fetch-packShawn O. Pearce2007-10-161-4/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There's a number of tricky conflicts between master and this topic right now due to the rewrite of builtin-push. Junio must have handled these via rerere; I'd rather not deal with them again so I'm pre-merging master into the topic. Besides this topic somehow started to depend on the strbuf series that was in next, but is now in master. It no longer compiles on its own without the strbuf API. * master: (184 commits) Whip post 1.5.3.4 maintenance series into shape. * Modularize commit-walkerDaniel Barkalow2007-09-191-0/+318
This turns the extern functions to be provided by the backend into a struct of pointers, renames the functions to be more namespace-friendly, and updates http-fetch to this interface. It removes the unused include from http-push.c. It makes git-http-fetch a builtin (with the implementation a separate file, accessible directly).
