The optimization is achieved by following techniques:
  &gt; data alignment [gain from aligned memory access on read/write]
  &gt; POWER7 gains performance with loop unrolling/unwinding
    [gain by reduction of branch penalty].
  &gt; zero padding done by calling optimized memset
