Python 2.6 should stick with PyString_* in its codebase.  The PyBytes_* names
in the spirit of 3.0 are available via a #define only.  See the email thread.

Make use of METH_O and METH_NOARGS where possible.

Use Py_UnpackTuple instead of PyArg_ParseTuple where possible.

Check return result from Py_InitModule*(). This API can fail.
